House and surroundings

Montels, a sheepfold all on the same level, entirely rebuilt from an old XIVth century farmhouse, takes place amidst this particular countyside called « la garrigue » similar to the greek landscape, and looks out on the “Pic Saint Loup”, vineyards and holmoaks which are typical of the Mediterranean regions.

Montels is between the seaside (Palavas, Carnon) and the mountains Cévennes. Montpellier, the nearest great town, is far from 30 kilometers. You can reach the house by car (highway A 75 or A7-9), by train (TGV) or air to Montpellier.

The nearest villages are Notre Dame de Londres and Saint Martin de Londres, very nice old place with shady terraces surrounding an old refreshing fountain.

You may do your shopping either on the road of the Cévennes (Laroque, Ganges where a big market takes place on Fridays) or towards Montpellier and the sea at Saint Gély du Fesc.

You may go on numerous trips :

  • To the sea until Aigues Mortes and the Saintes Maries de la Mer towards the East or Sète and the Cap d’Agde towards the West.
  • Through beautiful towns or old villages : Montpellier, Nimes, Pezenas (Molière’s town), la Couvertoirade, village of the Templiers
  • Roman churches and abbayes : Saint Guilhem le Désert, Saint Martin de Londres, Valmagne and further Fontfroide.
  • Caves : grotte des Demoiselles, grotte de Clamouse.
  • Incredible landscapes : cirque de Navacelles and montagne de la Séranne, Mont Aigoual, corniche des Cévennes.

 

You may walk (for instance to the Pic Saint Loup or the ravin des Arcs) or ride endlessly. You may go canoeing on the Hérault river.

The house includes 4 bedrooms on location with 5 simple beds and a double one. They have individual toilets and bathrooms. The other rooms are quite spacious : a kitchen and dining room of 50 m2, a living of 100m2 and an entrance hall. It is surrounded by paved terraces where you live most of the time as the weather is generally sunny and warm in this part of France. Garden tables and chairs and parasols are available for this purpose.

 

Near the house, a 12*6 meters swimming pool has been built, with salt filtration system.

The house is a comfortably furnished family house with everything you need. This includes central heating, dishwasher, washing machine and fridges.
